At Home – In the Woods

This issue of “At Home” is quite a bit late, but features our favourite fugitive!

at home - in the woods 1After a close call with the police, Moran left the city to seek shelter in a cabin deep in the woods. While it might not be the safest place on earth, he might get some rest in there… unless the owners show up.

at home - in the woods 2Finding the key in the bird house didn’t prove much of a problem for Moran and he carefully enters. The small lodge is stuffed with furniture from all over last century and in the kitchen, the fugitive finds enough canned food to keep him sustained for a while.
There’s dust all over the place and the air is a bit stale, but the only inhabitant seems to be a half-wild cat.

at home - in the woods 3After sharing a can of baked beans, Moran and the cat decide to ignore each other for now. Finally, he finds a comfy spot where he can settle down and continue his search for his identity.

at home - in the woods 4Moran can’t help and jumps at every noise outside, checking for cars or other dangers.

Ion – Growing Pains

ion - growing painsGrowing up isn’t easy and Ion is at a difficult age. Sometimes, he feels like an adult. On the other hand, he is not yet ready to let go of the treasures of his childhood. Luckily, he has a cosy spot to keep all things that have been and still are dear to him. Little trinkets he collected all over the world, while travelling with his parents.
Being an avid gamer, Ion also collects retro video games, and unlike many adult hoarders, he still enjoys playing them.

At Home – The Artist’s Loft

at home - artists loft 1Welcome to the third issue of “At Home”! Today we’re visiting an unknown artist’s loft, furnished with items from the current round of The Challenge. This month’s theme is factory/industrial.

at home - artists loft 2The entrance area serves as a photo studio, office and gallery.

at home - artists loft 3Behind a low wall is a fully furnished appartment. The kitchen may be simple, but it is functional and able to satisfy the artist’s humble worldly needs – there’s beer! But what about the bust of Chanda? Maybe that will give a hint about the artist’s identity.

at home - artists loft 4There is an open living and sleeping area.

at home - artists loft 5And between another low wall and a curtain for privacy, a small bathroom, too.

At Home – Mirror House

Mirror House - 1. Outside

Today’s post will be in a slightly different format than usual. First of all, it’s not about one of my characters and their adventures, but about a place. Secondly, this place was not built / put together just for the purpose of a blogpost.
Follow me to Mirror Lake. As it lies hidden in a secluded little area, surrounded by small mountains, it is not easy to find Mirror House. The humble residence of the Szpiegel family was built by Corv’s great-grandfather Erich. Recently the Kitteh inherited it from his great-aunt.

mirror house - entrance hall

When he moved in, Corvus left most of the things as they were. He never really knew any of his family and being surrounded by their belongings makes him feel closer to them. He did, however, add a few touches of his own here and there.

mirror house - living

Most of the time, the Kitteh and his friends hang out by the fire, with the old-fashioned, but cosy kitchen right behind them. The furniture may be a little old and faded, but everything is still in good working order.

mirror house - sleeping

The bedroom area has probably seen the most changes. Great-aunt’s frilly and moth-eaten bed wasn’t quite Corv’s taste and he replaced it with something that doesn’t smell of dust and moth balls, and doesn’t have springs that poke your fur when you seriously try to catnap.

I hope you enjoyed the little tour around the house – it is a private place and normally only open to select guests.
There are too many items in the pictures to list individually, so I am going to provide a list of shopws where items are from, and landmarks if possible. I hope I don’t forget anyone… if you see something I missed, please let me know!

Allow me to introduce… Leon Hyde

leon hyde

Name: Leon 'Jekyll' Hyde
Age: 37
Born: London, England
Occupation: Surgeon

Meet Leon Hyde! Wait, Mister Hyde? No, Doctor Hyde. For obvious reasons also called Jekyll by some of his friends.

With an English Father and a French mother, Leon grew up bilingual. At the early age of six, he started to play the piano, and it would become one of his greatest passions in life. As a child, he was rather small and timid, which caused him to be the target of mockery more than once.

Today, Leon is no longer skinny, but his kind and gentle nature has not changed. However, life has left both his body and soul scarred, and he has learned to be hard and cold as steel if neccessary.

When he was 17, he lost his brother in a motorbike accident, he barely survived himself. Leon still walks with a limp and while his clothes cover the scars on his leg and hip, his beard cannot quite hide the one on his jaw.

Leon complied with his dying brother’s last wish and became a doctor instead of a professional pianist. Today he is known as a brilliant surgeon who loves his job. He spends his little spare time playing the piano, listening to classical music or reading. To keep in shape, he does weight lifting, goes swimming and plays golf.

OOC information:

Leon cleary is one of my favourite characters ever. He was only created recently, but “came to life” very quickly. He is a bit different from my other characters, not only due to the fact he is more mature. I love to play contradictory characters that have many facets to themselves.
